Keep Warm this Winter
The Government has launched its annual Keep Warm Keep Well Campaign. The advice on staying warm over the winter aims to reduce cold-related illness and deaths. The Keep Warm Keep Well leaflet offers the following five tips for staying healthy this winter:    * Heating homes well. By setting heating to the right temperature (18-21°C or 64-70°F), homes can be kept warm and bills as low as possible.    * Get financial support. There are grants, benefits and sources of advice available to make peoples homes more energy efficient, improve their heating or help with bills. It’s worthwhile claiming all the benefits people are entitled to.    * Eat well. Food is a vital source of energy, which helps to keep your body warm. People are urged to make sure that they have hot meals and drinks regularly throughout the day.    * Get a flu jab. Flu jabs are available free jab from GP's to protect against seasonal flu if you are over 65, have a long-term health condition or are pregnant.    * Look after yourself and others. On cold days people are advised to wrap up warm and to look in on older neighbours and relatives to make sure that they are safe and well.
