Sheffield Centre For Independent Living

Promoting Independence Roadshow Report

Between January and March 2011 Partners for Inclusion (PfI), Sheffield Centre for Independent Living (SCIL) and Sheffield City Council Physical Disability and Sensory Impairment Services (PDSI) gathered feedback from over 100 disabled people in order to find answers to the following questions:What or who makes you feel in control?;How included do you feel in Sheffield life?;What are things that exclude you from being independent?;What are your solutions to those things that stop you being independent?;What can you do that you could offer to others? The purpose was to find out what helps people to be independent and everyday things that people are excluded from. With public sector cuts there is a need to make sure that the money available is spent on what makes the most difference to people’s lives. The aim was to then feed the views and comments collected into discussions about future planning and priorities in the City. You can now view the Promoting Independence Report  and Summary documents.
