SCOPE Local Impact Report |
|
Concerned about the effect that spending cuts are having on disabled people’s lives Scope has been working with the independent think tank Demos and recently launched their publication ‘Coping with the cuts – Can local authorities protect disabled people’s services?’. The report measures the impact that council cuts are having on disabled people and disability services. Demos has produced an interactive map which details how each council across England and Wales is coping with cuts. The report is not an attempt to ‘name and shame’ councils, but it does show that spending cuts do not necessarily have to lead to front line cuts, higher charges, or poorer quality services. By visiting this interactive map you can see what the research says about cuts in your area. You can also raise any concerns you have with local councillors. If you have any questions at all about the report you can get in contact with SCOPE’s Policy and Campaigns Department on 0207 619 7256 or
