The Sheffield City Strategy (Sheffield: Where People Shape the Future) was launched last week with the media. The City Strategy aims to set the strategic vision for Sheffield for the next ten years. So that by 2020 Sheffield is a city of global significance and remains a great place to live, work, invest, study and visit. To achieve that Vision, the Sheffield Executive Board will focus on five key ambitions, which are: Sheffield is: Distinctive (it retains its sense of authenticity); Successful (economically successful, but also successful individuals and communities); Inclusive (promoting opportunity and reducing inequality); Vibrant (a strong cultural, sporting and retail offer); Sustainable (environmentally sustainable and sustainable lifestyles). However, it is really about the work that everyone in Sheffield is doing, whether as local citizens, democratic leaders, the local businesses or voluntary, community and faith sectors, or as public sector workers.
