The First Report on the UN Convention

The Government has submitted the first UK report on the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabled People to the United Nations. Maria Miller, Minister for Disabled People says “This is an important milestone. The report sets out what has been achieved in the United Kingdom, and the Government's approach to delivering our commitment to equality for disabled people. The report identifies the progress we have made in a range of areas. I am committed to continuing to build on this progress. The Government's ambition is to enable disabled people to fulfil their potential and have opportunities to play a full role in society. We are now developing a new Disability Strategy to take forward the obligations of the UN Convention. We will work very closely with disabled people to produce the strategy." They will be publishing a discussion document soon to start things off” The report is available on the ODI website .If you would like a hard copy or alternative format please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
