Understanding Human Rights

This free guide from the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is designed to look at what human rights mean in the context of everyday life, how they have affected real people and why they are therefore so important. The publication gives a clear explanation of what human rights are and how they relate to life and the lives of everyone in Britain, plus some example of human rights in practice that a person might not be expecting. It also looks at some of the general criticisms that are made about human rights to see how accurate these are. At the end of the publication there is a list of organisations that can give information about the history of human rights legislation or guidance on human rights.
